We have successfully organised the “Surf Side Campout” or “Port Fairy Rod Run” at the seaside town of Port Fairy for many years. This run is held on the first or second weekend in January each year with over 150 cars entering the run and reaching over 350 plus cars at the show n shine on the Sunday.
The club has also successfully organised 2 Lake Fynes rod runs between the years of 1980 and 1981. Taking over this rod run after the C.R.A (Country Rodding Association) after they folded up. This rod run was also another great rod run that everyone enjoyed attending. The club also organised 1vic state, Hamilton rod run, as well as 1Hamilton rod run.
Annual Swap Meet
On the last weekend in August the club holds the annual swap meet at the Hamilton showgrounds pavilion.
Besides all the events the club has organised, the club also helps out in community events such as the wombat wish night held in the Hamilton botanical gardens for children who have lost their parents. Here we display the cars for the evening for the public to view. We also give cancer children rides in the hot rods when they come to Hamilton for a weekend holiday, donating money to relay for life and make a wish foundation, chauffeuring brides and brides maids around when participating in weddings, as well as driving debutantes to their deb ball at the local secondary schools, these are just some of the ways the hotrod club helps out in the community.
Since the purchase of the club rooms (ex kindergarten) in Haige st Hamilton, we have had regular Friday night “Happy hours”. It is fantastic to have such a great facility for our family orientated club to use on regular occasions.
